Letters of recommendation (LOR) are an essential component for your applications for college and summer programs!
You must develop a positive working relationship with your teacher(s) so that he or she can not only write a positive letter of recommendation, but a letter than can speak on behalf of your growth as a student.
You must pick your LOR’s strategically! If you plan to major in biology, your LOR should come from a science teacher! If you plan to go into business, think about getting a LOR from a math teacher.
Here is what you need to get that perfect LOR.
- Timing – ask your teacher early!
- Set up an interview with your teacher to go over your resume and your performance in the classroom. This ensures that your teacher just doesn’t repeat your resume in paragraph form.
